Berlins vergessene Mitte

Berlins historische Wiege ist eine weltweit einzigartige Tabula rasa, mental und real. Von 1500 Gebäuden, die dort um 1840 standen, wurden 1488 bis 1970 abgerissen oder zerstört. Getreu dem Verdikt des Stadtsoziologen Harald Bodenschatz, dass Berlins Altstadt nicht nur verschwunden, sondern vergessen ist, präsentiert die Ausstellung der Stiftung Stadtmuseum und des Landesarchivs unter dem Titel „Berlins vergessene Mitte. Stadtkern 1840 –2010“ rund 380 Originalfotos zumeist des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Dazu Pläne, Architekturspolien, Fundstücke.

Call for Artists: Liquid Cities & Temporary Identities

January / March 2011

International ArtExpo is selecting all interesting video/short.films to include in the next 2011 Exhibitions:

Liquid Cities & Temporary Identities at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in Bangalore, India (March 11-13, 2011). The selection will be presented in a contemporary videoart event with street screenings in Lleida, Spain (January 20-22, 2011). The deadline for applications is January 10, 2011.

The selections will be based on two main concepts. With the first section, Liquid Cities, we will present videos about contemporary cities, future cities and possible connections between videoarchitecture and videoart experimentations. The second section, Temporary Identities, will show videoart works based on the concept of contemporary identities, new technologies and body borders.

The number of works with you can participate is unlimited. All works must be on DVD (PAL or NTSC), no matter what the original source medium. The duration may be any, with a preference given to a max lenght of 15 minutes. If you are interested, send your video submissions (Name/Surname, City/Country, Film title, Running time, Brief film synopsis) with a CV/biography, videography and an introduction about the piece to:

Berlin im Zeichen des Bauhaus: Im Rahmen der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Pécs wird demnächst im Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin eine gemeinsame kunsthistorisch relevante Ausstellung des Pécser Janus Pannonius Museums und des Bauhaus-Archivs gezeigt. Der Martin-Gropius-Bau untersucht jetzt bereits die Lichtkunst Moholy-Nagys - und die Moholy-Nagy Galerie im .CHB zeigt Originalwerke Pécser Künstler und zeitgenössische Reflexionen darauf.

Vertreten sind mit Originalarbeiten Sándor Bortnyik, Lajos Tarai Csacsinovics, Hugó Johan, Lajos Kassák, László Moholy-Nagy, Farkas Molnár, Gyula Papp und Henrik Stefán. Die Antwort der zeitgenössischen Medienkunst wird von Dávid Szauder auf Kassáks Bildarchitektur-Manifest von 1921 montiert. Ebenso wird eine kinemathographische Huldigung an László Moholy Nagys Die Dynamik der Gross-Stadt in einer gleichnamigen Installation von Andreas Haus und einer Arbeitsgruppe der Universität der Künste zu sehen sein.

Diese Veranstaltung findet in Kooperation mit dem Bürgerbüro e.V. und dem Berliner Landesbeauftragten für die Unterlagen der Staatssicherheit der ehemaligen DDR (LSTU) im Besucherzentrum der Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer, Bernauer Straße 119, 13355 Berlin, statt.

Der Dokumentarfilm „Gesicht zur Wand“ erhielt von der Filmbewertungsstelle in Wiesbaden die höchste Auszeichnung „Dokumentarfilm des Monats“ und das „Prädikat besonders wertvoll“.

4K a köztársaságért

Mi másról emlékezhetne meg az első ilyen akciónk, mint a köztársaság kikiáltásáról? Első köztársaságunkat, az 1K-t, 1918. november 16-án kiáltották ki.

November 16-a legyen a Köztársaság Ünnepe.

A Köztársaság Ünnepe arról szól, hogy a független Magyarország mindannyiunké, nem csupán a hatalmat birtokló szűk csoporté.
Az 1K megünneplésére találkozunk november 16-án, kedden este 6-kor a Keleti pályaudvarban, lent, a jegypénztáraknál. Részletek az akcióról a hét második felében.
Az 1K-t azért szeretjük, mert 18-ban az őszirózsás forradalommal és a köztársaság kikiáltásával lett ismét önálló Magyarország. Az emberek Magyarország teljes függetlenségét követelték, meg akarták végre valósítani a 48-as célokat. Köztársaságot akartak, a királyság megdöntését. Földosztást akartak, meg akarták szüntetni a magyarok millióit nyomorban tartó feudális nagybirtokokat. Általános választójogot követeltek, mert korábban a lakosság kiváltságos 6%-a szólhatott csak bele a közügyekbe.

WO STEHST DU, KOLLEGE? KUNSTKRITIK ALS GESELLSCHAFTSKRITIK – SYMPOSIUM ANLÄSSL. DES 20. JUBILÄUMS VON „TEXTE ZUR KUNST"

Aus Anlass des 20jährigen Bestehens der in Berlin ansässigen Zeitschrift „Texte zur Kunst“ stellt ein von Isabelle Graw und André Rottmann organisiertes Symposium die Frage nach dem Potenzial der Kunstkritik als Gesellschaftskritik. Als das Magazin 1990 in Köln gegründet wurde, versprachen die Methoden der „Social Art History“, zeitgenössische Kunst in einem erweiterten gesellschaftlichen, ökonomischen und ideologischen Rahmen betrachten zu können. Auch wenn dieser Ansatz für viele der regelmäßigen Autor/innen und Redakteur/innen von „Texte zur Kunst“ nach wie vor grundlegend ist, haben neue Modelle der theoretisch avancierten Auseinandersetzung mit der Kunst der Gegenwart die Bühne betreten: Die anhaltenden Debatten um Biopolitik und immaterielle Arbeitsformen unter den Bedingungen des Postfordismus habe die lang gehegte Annahme, dass der (nach-)avantgardistischen Kunst im Kapitalismus eine per se antagonistische Rolle zukomme, radikal in Zweifel gezogen. Gleichzeitig ist es zu einer Revision der Kategorie des Ästhetischen gekommen, die lange Zeit aufgrund ihrer Nähe zu idealistischen Autonomievorstellungen diskreditiert schien, nun aber im Gewand einer ethisch begründeten Verteidigung der Kunsterfahrung und einer gleichsam emphatisch eingeforderten Aufmerksamkeit für formale Details zurückkehrt. Das Symposium bestimmt diese Situation als Ausgangspunkt, um über die mögliche Macht und Methoden der Kunstkritik als Gesellschaftskritik zu debattieren.

A KÉK – Kortárs Építészeti Központ, a MoME és a BME közös, angol nyelvű programja

Az elmúlt 20 év politikai, gazdasági, társadalmi és kulturális változásai Kelet-Közép-Európában a városok jelentős átalakulását is eredményezték. A régió városai hasonló problémákkal küszködnek, és gyakran ugyanazokkal a kihívásokkal kényszerülnek szembenézni. Mégis, e városok között igen korlátozott a tapasztalatcsere: ezt a hiányt hivatott pótolni a KÉK által szervezett találkozó. A különböző politikai, gazdasági és társadalmi víziók csatatereivé váló városok új kihívásaira számos politikai válasz született – de ezzel párhuzamosan a szakmai, civil és kulturális szférák találkozópontjain is megkezdődött a városok átalakulásáról szóló gondolkodás. Építészek, képzőművészek és aktivisták közös munkája eredményeképpen számos innovatív és merész ötlet, megoldás, projekt született.

Milyen új módszerekkel és eszközökkel közelíthető meg a kortárs város? Melyek a találkozási pontok az építészet, a képzőművészet, az urbanisztika és az aktivizmus között? Mi a szerepe kutatásnak és a beavatkozásnak a várossal foglalkozó kulturális projektekben? Hogyan képes egy kulturális projekt hatást gyakorolni a városi döntéshozókra? A találkozó ezekre a kérdésekre keres választ.

A Kortárs Építészeti Központ "Városi Séták"sorozata keretében a múlt héten a kerületi Zsinagógákba szervezett épületbejárást. Többszörös volt a túljelentkezés, ezért azoknak, akik az első turnusba nem fértek be, szerveztünk egy ismétlést.
